Part2: Tech that every Neurodivergent person needs | by Ashley Peacock | Mar, 2024

Technology has the power to benefit society, increase our consciousness and support us to reach our full potential by removing barriers. I’ve always been a bit of an early adopter when it comes to technology. As someone with ADHD, I’m constantly looking for ways to optimise my productivity, workflow, prevent reduction of my spoon count and increase my wellbeing. Part 1 covered the top 5 technologies I used for at least 3 years.

As usual to bridge our two worlds, this is written for Neurodivergent people to find resources they need and for designers to learn about designing products that meet diverse needs and to better understand where gaps exist in products. Concrete examples of products are ways in which I believe can help overcome the double empathy problem as designers.

Feeling overwhelmed with tasks like a juggler with one too many balls in the air? Meet Todoist, your digital ally in the quest for productivity. I have tried all of the most common to-do list apps in the market. This app helps organise your life’s work and personal tasks by showing only the tasks required for the day. It syncs with all devices (Android and iOS) and, importantly, lets me share the list with my Access to work support worker so they can manage and prioritise items for me.

Neurodivergent people often face challenges with organisation and time management due to differences in executive functioning. The ability to remember and prioritise tasks effectively is a huge source of overwhelm, leading to stress and decreased productivity. I’ve personally found breaking tasks into smaller, actionable parts significantly reduces my daily overwhelm, but not all apps and tools do this in an effective way.

With Todoist, users can break down overwhelming tasks into manageable subtasks, assign people to the sub-tasks, share to-do lists for collaborative support, organise tasks into projects and receive daily reminders. The tool’s cross-platform syncing ensures important information is always at hand, simplifying daily organisation and fostering a sense of accomplishment.
